The penalty for violating the Water Use Restrictions Policy is $25 for the first offense in a calendar year
",.,~nd $50 for each subsequent offense in the same calendar year. You have ten (10) business days from the
issuance of this notice to remit the penalty set forth below.
If you wish to contest this citation, you must request, in writing, an administrative hearing before the
Farmington Water Board within ten (10) business days.
Failure to pay the penalty imposed or request an administrative hearing within ten (10) business
days will result in the penalty amount being applied to your City utility bill.
I understand that by paying this penalty I am admitting to violating the City's Water Use Restrictions
Policy. I also understand that I have a right to an administrative hearing and I waive that right.

I am writing this letter because I feel I was cited for a Water Use Restriction in error.
I have an automated sprinkler system where the date and time is set. My system
even has a feature, which allows for WC:,1tering only on odd days. I also have a back
up battery in case of a power outage. 44
After I received the citation, I immediate.1y went out to the garage to check my system
to see if there may have been a probl~~. The date and time was correct and the
system was still set to water only on odd days.
I know mistakes can be made from time to time, and I feel this has been one of those
times~ If I were in violation of the city Water Use Restriction policy, I would have paid
my penalty no questions asked.
I would appreciate the Water Board to reconsider my citation and to find that I did not

(A)
Odd-Even Restriction. Use of the city water supply system for
lawn or garden sprinkling or other irrigation shall be limited to an
odd-even schedule corresponding to property address and no
watering any day between 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm effective year

Emergency Restrictions. Whenever the Water Board determines it

(C)
Enforcement. Notices of non-compliance will be sent out at the
direction of the Public Works staff.
Effective Date. This policy shall take effect January 1,2000.
