MINUTES
WATER BOARD REGULAR MEETING
May 29, 2001
7:00 PM

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Shirley.
Members Present: Jensen, Krueger, Shirley
Staff Present: City Engineer Mann

Agenda was approved as presented.
3.
A motion was made by Shirley and seconded by Krueger to approve the minutes of the April 23,
200 I meeting. APIF, Motion carried.

4. Continued Discussion Items:
a) Well #3 status report. Well is pumping some sand. Well is pumping 800 gpm with an acceptable
amount of sand. Recommend to leave at present rate to see if it cleans up. The Clayton valve is full
of sand and the motor has a 40 year old "Hard Start", and with pumping sand during reconstruction
the head shaft is most likely worn. Motion by Krueger and a second by Jensen to:
. Clean the Clayton valve,
. Install soft start on motor (estimated cost of$18,000.00),
. Replace head shaft (estimated cost of$I,200.00), APIF, Motion carried.
b) Well Site Acquisition - Vermillion Grove Development: Motion by Jensen, second by Shirley to
purchase the two well sites in Outlots A and G in Vermillion Grove Development for a total price
of $75,000.00. APIF, Motion carried.
c) Well #4 Site - Cardboard Recycling Container. City Engineer Mann, Solid Waste Supervisor
Klotz and Public Works Supervisor Weierke have selected a site for the new location of the
cardboard container and it is staked out. Board members were invited to view the site and if no
objections were heard, the site will be developed.
d) Daisy Knoll Tower - All necessary repairs have been made; new hydrant for drainage, repaired
valve, repaired drain pipe, repaired holes in roof. The Board praised the work of the Public Works
staff
5. New Business:
a) none
6. Approve bills. Motion by Krueger, second by Shirley to approve bills presented totaling $24,423.91.
Voting for: Krueger and Shirley, Abstaining: Jensen. Motion carried.
7. Financial report. No financial report was submitted.
8. Open Forum
a) none
9. Meeting adjourned at approximately 8:30 pm. Next meeting to be held Monday, June 25, 2001.
