WATER BOARD
MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
MAY 23, 1994
I. The meeting was called to order by Chair Shirley.
Members Present: Chell, Shirley, Wier.
Members Absent: None.
Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski.
2. The agenda was approved as presented.
3. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve the minutes of the
April 25, 1994 regular meeting as presented. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
4. MOTION by Chell, second by Shirley to approve funding a fill
station in the amount of $3,745.97, using the drawings and information
provided by City Engineer Kaldunski as the model. The fill station
is to be installed at Well House #1. APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
5. MOTION by Wier, second by Chell to approve attendance at a con-
ference regarding emergency and conservation plans for water utilities.
APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
6. In relation to the planned expansion at the high school, it was
generally agreed to loop the water mains. Further information is
needed on this subject. No action was taken.
7. In regard to inspection and recommendation for repair or replace-
ment of existing commercial meters, it was suggested that the present
meter reader make these inspections as a portion of his regular meter
reading. A report on the condition of the meters can be made. No
further action was needed.
8. During the winter, the City spent several thousand dollars in
an attempt to thaw the water main at 716 6th Street. In attempting
to thaw the service to the house, it was found that repairs had to
be made to the service. These repairs were made. The property
owner understood that some charge would be made on this work. A
charge in the amount of $700.00 was determined to be reasonable for
this work if it were to be done during the summer months. MOTION by
Shirley, second by Wier to charge the property owner, Mark Zweber,
$700.00 for the repair to the service at 716 6th Street. APIF, MOTION
CARRIED. Mr. Zweber expressed some disagreement with this amount.
9. MOTION by Wier, second by Shirley to pay the bills as presented.
APIF, MOTION CARRIED.
10. The meeting adjourned.
