HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/28/94 MINUTES WATER BOARD REGULAR NOVEMBER 28, 1994 1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chair Shirley. Members Present: Shirley, Wier, Chell. Members Absent: None. Also Present: City Engineer Kaldunski. 2. The agenda was approved as presented. 3. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve the minutes of October 24, 1994 with the amendment in Paragraph 8, Line 2 should read "...that it should be soon completed. No action needed." APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 4. The capital outlay request regarding funding of a pickup truck was considered. Discussion showed a need for other vehicles instead of a pickup and the Water Board was asked to provide for this instead of a pickup. Funding in the amount of $2000 was to be authorized for the purchase of a small dump truck instead. MOTION by Shirley, second by Chell to approve $2,000 in funding for the purchase of a dump truck. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 5. A capital outlay request for a new metal locator was reviewed. MOTION by Wier, second by Chell to approve the purchase with the con- dition that the Water Board would have use of the equipment any time it was needed and to authorize .expenditure of $425.00 towards the purchase. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 6. The Board considered a capital outlay request for the sharing of costs for the purchase of a trench box. MOTION by Shirley, second by Wier to approve the expenditure of $2,362.17 for a trench box. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 7. The Board discussed a possible change to the frozen water main policy. After discussion, it was decided to leave the current policy as it is. It was suggested that where multiple freezing occurs, thawing should be done of City parts and owners' parts to determine where the freezing is happening. No action was needed. 8. MOTION by Wier, second by Chell to approve bills in the amount of $4,858.74. APIF, MOTION CARRIED. 9. The financial report was reviewed. 10. The Board also considered the rust problems that sometimes happen. It was suggested that clothing damaged in this manner may be covered by insurance. There was a question raised as to how costs of flushing are paid. It was stated that these are generally paid as part of the cost of operating the system. 10.
