Mann, P.E., Director of Public Works/City Engineer SUBJECT: Water Usage Report DATE: August 24, 1998 INTRODUCTION The Water Board has requested quarterly water usage updates, submitted herewith. DISCUSSION The water pumped in the first quarter of 1998 was as follows: Well #1 Well #3 Well #4 14,300,000 gallons 1,600,000 gallons 53,000,000 gallons Total 68,900,000 gallons The water pumped in the second quarter of 1998 was as follows: Well # 1 Well #3 Well #4 40,500,000 gallons 6,200,000 gallons 48,500,000 gallons Total 95,200,000 gallons The total amount of water pumped through the second quarter is 164,100,000 gallons. At this time, there is no reason to necessarily expect that the City will exceed its water apportionment of 440 million gallons this year. DISCUSSION During this period, 76 single-family units and 2 twin home permits were issued for a total of 78 new housing permits during the second quarter. During the same period last year a total of 85 single-family permits were issued, a decrease of 7 units over the same quarter. Prom January 1, 1998 to June 30, 1998 a total of 153 housing permits have been issued; they include 151 single-family homes, 2 twin-home units, and no multi-family housing units. The value of the residential construction has totaled $15,800,401. The 153 permits are 24 ahead of the midyear count of 129 permits issued in 1997, at this rate it is projected 302 new housing permits will be issued for 1998. A total of383 building permits have been issued through the second quarter at an estimated valuation of$32,396,761, this includes the new middle school project valued at $15,561,400. Mann, P.E., Director of Public Works/City Engineer SUBJECT: Generator for Well Operations DATE: August 24, 1998 INTRODUCTION At the July 23, 1998 meeting, the Water Board directed staff to prepare plans and specifications for a generator for emergency well operations. DISCUSSION A representative with the City's engineering consultant will be attending the meeting to go over the options and desired specifications for the generator and answer any questions from the Water Board.
