Dear City Administrator,
On Wednesday, April 14tb I received a notice for failure to complYwith.":ai~;~;:~
Farmington and the Water Restrictions that have been place upon iesfa~' .
that you please take the following into consideration and waive the offense and.tli.lE~.the -
"first offense" of our records.
On Monday, April lib I arrived home' at approximately 3 :30 'p.m. Upon driving into my
driveway I noticed the driveway was wet. We had work done on our sprinkler system to
get things ready for the summer. When the work was completed there was failure or
miscommunication to reset our timer/clock for the season. I then noticed the system was
running in the backyard and proceeded to immediately turn it off. While turning the
system off! noticed the timer/clock had not been reset. At 3:30 p.m. the clock read 6:30
a.m. Due to the fact the clock/timer was not set correctly the system went off on its own.
. I apologize for the inconvenience this has placed on the city and the time involved in
. issuing citations. I have since remedied the situation and the clock/timer is correctly set.
I look forward to your immediate response to this request so my husband and I can put
this behind us. .

SUBJECT:
Use of Water Board Lot
DATE:

INTRODUCTION
The Recreation Department in conjunction with another community group will be sponsoring free bus rides to the
Outdoor Pool this summer. The Swim Bus will be traveling to eleven pick-up sites, mostly located in city parks,
throughout the greater Farmington area during June, July & August.
DISCUSSION
.
The Recreation Department is planning to include a Swim Bus pick-up site in the Charleswood neighborhood and is
requesting assistance from the Water Board in this endeavor. The Char1eswood neighborhood, located on the West
side of Pilot Knob Road between 203rd St. and 19Sth Street, will not have it's park completed and ready for use until
later this summer so an alternate location is needed for the Swim Bus site. After reviewing possible locations in the
neighborhood, it was decided that the most feasible site is a lot that the Water Board owns on the comer of 200th St.
and Everhill.
Last year the bus stopped at the trailhead on Bverhill, but because the trailhead is positioned between two houses
there was not enough room for youth to park their bikes and safely wait for the bus to arrive.
The Water Board property does have adequate space to accommodate bike parking and waiting youth, safely. The
location is visible and easily accessible for all neighborhood kids who may wish to walk or ride to the site.
Should use of the Water Board lot be granted, Park staff would be willing to mow the site, and provide a picnic
table and portable bike rack. Additionally, Recreation Department staff would contact the adjacent homeowners
informing them of the intended use for the lot this summer.
ACTION REQUIRED
Consider the use of the Water Board lot for a Swim Bus stop from June 21 - August 12, 2004.
Respectfully submitted,
.
