City of Farmington,
I received a watering citation here on 8/4/04. I had just arrived home from work at
5: lOpm and the water was on. The citation is for 5 :2Opm. I was in the back yard with the
landscaper admiring the great work. He had the water on because the lawn needed to be wet in
order to remove the existing grass on 8/5/04. The ground is like concrete and the landscaper
recommended the water to soften the lawn for removal. The sod is going in on Friday the 6th. I
understand the basis of a watering restriction and know for the future to pay closer attention. I
have now gone and applied for a Temporary Exemption for the new sod. I guess I was looking
for a pardon on my first ever issue with me at this residence. Thank you for taking the time to
hear me out.

To: The Fannington Water Board
We received the enclosed citation for violating the Farmington water policy. We have
been residents of Farmington for four months and had a sprinkler system and new sod
installed one month ago. We had no intention of violating city policies and were simply
unaware of the restrictions on watering. Now that we have the information on watering
we have reset our sprinkler system to the correct times.
.
We feel that this citation is unjust and serves only to foster ill will as we are new to your
community. A friendly knock on the door or phone call would have corrected the
situation easily.
It is for these reasons that we are requesting an administrative hearing to resolve this
matter.
